Description:

A natural pond design with particular attention to technical and artistic waterfall construction.

Approximate Size:

10' x 20' Pond, with a 8' waterfall course

Number Of Waterfalls:

1; with three steps

Fish:

None

Equipment Used:

300 sq ft .45 mil EPDM Rubber liner and Geotextile Underlay Fabric, AquatiConcepts Skimmer and Filterfalls, 3600 GPH Savio Submersible Pump

Design Considerations:

To design and construct a pond with the main focus upon the waterfall and watercourse. The project was built for local artisit, Ilana Manolson, Concord, MA, who specializes in waterscapes and natural interpretations. Amazing work, really. (You can imagine how the pressure to deliver was on with this proejct!)

Construction Challenges:

The initial LLD concept renderings gave us an idea of what we were to accomplish, but finding the right stones to both fit the puzzle and enhance the surroundings is always a challenge (Lots of time spent digging through piles of rock!) Additionally, removing the existing pond that originally occupied this spot proved to be much harder than we figured. The original owner of the property had constructed this years ago out of stone, lots of concrete and metal lathing. To be sure it never was to go anywhere he reinforced the entire structure with 2" thick steel cable wound consistently throughout the pond side walls!
